Do we really need public sector unions? Why or why not?

No we3 don't they only seem to compound existing problems, they forget that they are servants to the public not the masters, it also seems to me that the merit system should be re instituted so that we may have efficiency in government, not waste management. Unions tend to allow over kill of any problem, they complicate the matters at hand allowing commonsense to take a back seat or to be thrown under the bus. It is like the Doctor telling the grieving family well the operation was a success but the patient died from complications
