What can you talk about with a new person who doesnt speak much english?

there's a new girl in our class and she's from romania. she knows quite a bit of english but not too much. like she will understand but she will struggle a bit talking it. she's a very nice and kind person. but no one in the class talks to her. everyone avoids her and i hate that. so i tried talking to her and we did talk a bit but i couldnt think of what to say. im not trying to pick her up or get her to be my girlfriend. just wanna be friends. so give me some friendly topics i can talk to her. what do u talk about.
